Justice, the “Law” and the American legal system

Justice, the “Law” and the American legal system are inextricably intertwined. However, each has come to mean different things to different people at different times as local, state, and national politics and political positions change with the whims of population demography and the influence of mass media upon the voters and their elected officials.

The essays in this section of the website consider Justice as an element of philosophy; Law in terms of the effects of positive law upon individuals and public policy; and the American Legal System as the complex web of procedures which have evolved since the Founding Fathers adopted the English Common Law system as the basis for the American legal system.
