Direct Examination of Industry Expert

Before setting up the Atomic Energy Commission experts as intellectual targets for their failure to consider the environmental impact of their recommendations, it was necessary to educate the media and the Court about the oil and gas industry in general and the lack of significant economic impact on the price of gas to the consumer should Project Rulison flare what ever natural gas had been released into the cavern created by the nuclear bomb, much less distribute that radioactive natural gas to the environment by either flaring it into the atmosphere or sending it to a pipeline for use by natural gas consumers.

Taking direct testimony from a knowledgeable industry executive at the start of any environmental lawsuit is critical. The Court and through the media, the general public, must understand the economics upon which the action challenged is based. The direct examination of the responsible executive must show that whatever the profit to the company, it fails to consider the economic impact on the Environment.
